TAMUNING, Guam (May 7, 2020) — The 2020 Census of Guam will reopen May 11th for
operations.
The 2020 Census of Guam management team is implementing a phased approach for all
operations, with a staggered schedule for the return of staff. This plan will take several weeks as
new guidelines are implemented to align with public health requirements. These guidelines will
adhere to social distancing requirements and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
including masks.
All 2020 Census of Guam employees will be notified by their supervisors regarding their
respective return date and schedule.
Responding to the 2020 Census of Guam is critical, as responses help direct federal funding to
the community for healthcare, emergency services, education, infrastructure, job opportunities and
more. Community engagement and collaboration remains key to conducting a successful 2020
Census of Guam.
Residents will now have the option to complete the 2020 Census of Guam over the telephone or
through an in-person interview. All activities will follow specific guidelines (including the use of PPE
and social distancing) to protect the health of the resident and the census worker. As a reminder,
there is no online option for the 2020 Census of Guam. Additional information will be provided as
the start date for field activities nears.
The Guam Census office remains cognizant of the current public health situation and will continue
to assess operations accordingly.
